Waaree Transpower Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, is investing around Rs.192 crore in establishing a new 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility.

In a release, Waaree Transpower said that the new facility is expected to become operational by April 2027 and will enable Waaree Transpower to manufacture and cater to customers across 132kV, 220kV and 400kV voltage classes.

The investment is expected to significantly enhance the company’s ability to meet the growing demand arising from India’s expanding power transmission and renewable energy infrastructure.

The expansion comes against the backdrop of rapidly growing electricity demand and the increasing need for robust transmission and distribution infrastructure, to facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy generation and energy storage capacity into the grid.

With the addition of the new facility, Waaree Transpower is further strengthening its capabilities across the power infrastructure value chain, expanding beyond renewable energy applications to address a broader spectrum of high-voltage transmission requirements.

The company currently has an order book of approximately Rs.360 crore for execution during FY27, providing a strong foundation for its next phase of growth and capacity expansion.

The new 500 MVA, 400kV facility will complement Waaree Transpower’s existing capabilities and enable the company to participate in larger, more complex, and technically demanding power infrastructure projects.

The investment is part of Waaree Transpower’s broader strategy to build a scalable, technologically advanced and diversified electrical infrastructure business, capable of supporting India’s evolving power sector, while creating capabilities for emerging opportunities across renewable energy, BESS and grid infrastructure, the release added.

Growing demand for HV transformers

According to Viren Doshi, Director, Waaree Energies Ltd, “Our Rs.192 crore investment in a 500 MVA, 400kV manufacturing facility reflects our long-term confidence in the growth of India’s power infrastructure and the increasing demand for reliable, high-voltage transformation capacity. As renewable energy deployment accelerates, strengthening the transmission network and enabling the seamless integration of new generation and storage capacity into the grid will be equally critical. This facility will significantly enhance our capabilities and enable us to serve customers across a broader range of voltage classes and power infrastructure applications.”

Acquisition of Kotsons

According to information previously released by Waaree Energies, the company, in October 2025, acquired controlling stake of 62 per cent in Rajasthan-based transformer manufacturer Kotson’s Pvt Ltd. Incorporated in 1978, Kotsons (now known as Waaree Transpower Pvt Ltd) has a current manufacturing capacity of around 4,000 MVA per year. (Learn more)
