Power distribution privatization of DNH & DD: Bombay High Court suspends tender

Torrent Power has informed that the Bombay High Court has suspended the tender process in the wake of a PIL case filed before the court, until further orders in the matter.

Torrent Power, it may be recalled, emerged as the frontrunner in the privatization of power distribution in the Union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. (DNH & DD)

It may be recalled that the Union power ministry in May 2020 announced its decision to privatize power distribution activities in all the Union territories—Chandigarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Puducherry, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh—in a phased manner.
