Power Mech Projects wins Rs.2,500 crore-plus order from BHEL

Power Mech Projects Ltd has announced the winning of an order valued at over Rs.2,500 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL).

In a stock exchange filing, Power Mech Projects said that the order relates to balance of plant (BoP) for an upcoming thermal power project in Telangana, on EPC basis.

The thermal power project in question is the 1×800-MW Singareni Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II), located at Mancherial in Telangana.

As part of the contract, Power Mech Projects will be responsible for design, engineering, manufacturing, inspection, testing, painting, supply/delivery duly packed at project site including transportation upto site, receipt, unloading, storage, security & handling at site, complete civil & structural works, construction, erection, testing, commissioning, final painting at site, trial run, PG Test, handing over, completion of facilities, annual maintenance till handover, training, guarantee and warranty, defect liability period, etc.

 

The contract is scheduled for completion in 38 months.

 

According to information available, but not contained in the Power Mech Projects’ notification, the said thermal power project is owned by Singareni Coal Collieries Ltd (SCCL), jointly owned by the Government of India and the Telangana government. The EPC order for building the power plant was placed by SCCL on BHEL in February 2025.

The 1×800-MW supercritical unit discussed in this story is coming up adjacent to two operational units of 600-MW each, which were commissioned by BHEL in 2016, it is learnt.
