REC Ltd and the National Test House (NTH), operating under the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, have signed a memorandum of understanding with a view to boosting quality assurance of materials deployed under RDSS.

In a release, REC said that the MoU was signed on March 18, 2026, at Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi. The MoU aims to bolster quality testing and assurance mechanisms for materials deployed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Under the agreement, the two organisations will collaborate to conduct third-party quality testing of RDSS project materials through NTH’s NABL-accredited laboratories, jointly organise technical workshops and training programmes, and develop robust quality frameworks to improve the reliability and safety standards of power distribution infrastructure across the country.

The agreement was signed by Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director (RDSS), REC Ltd, and Dr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director General, NTH. The signing ceremony was accorded by the presence of Smt. Nidhi Khare, IAS, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Bharat Khera, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; and Prince Dhawan, IAS, Executive Director (PMD), REC Ltd, the release said.

The MoU was the result of sustained efforts by REC’s PMD – Quality Assurance Division, headed by Yogendra Singh, GM & HoD, who pursued the partnership as a strategic measure to address quality gaps in RDSS material procurement and installation, the release added.
