A new electric vehicle charging station, commissioned by Tata Power at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, 15, Janpath, New Delhi, was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, and Chairman, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, on April 14, 2023.

The inauguration commemorated the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

This initiative was taken by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation and Dr. Ambedkar International Centre to augment the “Go-Green initiative” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a release by Tata Power said.

The new EV charging station is equipped with two fast and one moderate charger that can easily be located by EV owners using Tata Power EZ Charge App.  Tata Power has over 100 public / semi-public chargers installed across the national capital.

Alleviating “range” anxiety

Tata Power is expanding its EV charging infrastructure across the country to encourage faster EV adoption. As the government has set a target of achieving 30 percent electric vehicle adoption by 2030, an increasing number of EVs can be seen on the roads. Tata Power aims to reduce range anxiety among EV owners by setting up a widespread EV charging infrastructure and ensuring a smooth travel experience for them.

Widespread presence

Through its widespread presence in the EV charging space, Tata Power now energized more than 3,000 public/semi-public chargers including 450+ charging points across 350 major highways along with 30,000+ residential chargers. To support faster adoption of e-mobility, the company has plans of setting up around 25,000 EV charging points across the country over the next five years.
